Your plan tracks a set number of brands: one on Starter and Plus, three on Pro, five on Agency. This page covers the life of a brand in your workspace: adding one, making it look right, archiving and restoring it, and tracking more brands than your plan includes.
Adding a brand
Owners and admins add brands, from Add brand in the header. There are two ways in:
- Research it fresh. Give the name and website, choose a market, and brandflare sets the brand up: category, aliases, competitors, a first fact sheet and its questions.
- Add it from the index. If the brand is already on Explore, add it from its profile. It arrives with its header image and colours and its measurement history, so you start with a trend instead of a flat line.
Either way, you confirm the name and website before research starts, because they can't be changed later. Then you can add a brief: the competitors to include and what the research should focus on. A brand from the index that is given a brief is researched fresh rather than copied, so its questions follow the brief. The brief stays on the brand, under Brand Settings › Tracking. The full walk-through is in getting started.
Your own banner and logo
On a brand's overview, select the pen on the banner to edit it, then Change banner, or the camera on the logo. The recommended size is shown beside each. The change applies only to your workspace's copy of the brand, and Reset brings back the default. Your logo also shows in the brand switcher and on your dashboard, and on Agency it's what the Export Report is drawn in.
Archiving a brand
Settings › Brands lists what you track. Archiving a brand stops its checks that day and takes it off your dashboard, while everything it has measured stays readable on its own page, marked Archived.
Two rules keep archiving honest:
- An archived brand keeps its place on your plan for 30 days. Without that, a one-brand plan could be used to read a fresh audit of a different brand every few days. Plans & billing tells you the date the place frees.
- New brands in a year are limited to three times your plan's brand count. It's a ceiling you won't notice unless you're rotating brands constantly.
Brands can't be archived during a Pro trial. Archiving frees a place, and a trial has only one.
Restoring a brand
Restoring brings a brand back exactly as it was, with its questions, fact sheet and history. Adding a brand you've had before restores it rather than researching it again, and restoring never counts towards the yearly limit.
More brands than your plan includes
When you reach your limit, the add-a-brand screen says so and lets you deal with it on the spot, with the exact amount due shown before you confirm. What it offers depends on where you are:
- On Starter, Plus and Pro, the next plan that tracks more brands. Plans are how brands are sold, and the step up brings its other limits with it.
- On Agency, an extra brand. Extra brands are bought one at a time and each is tracked at full depth. The price is on the pricing page.
- On a trial, starting your plan early, which takes you from one brand to the plan's full count.
Extra brands can also be bought from the usage meter on Settings › Plans & billing › Subscription: Add a slot says the price, takes the payment and opens the add-a-brand wizard. Where there's something to pay, it becomes the wizard's first step, Add brand quota, with the amount due today and what it renews at.
How extra brands are charged
- From the day you add it, pro rata to your next renewal. After that it renews with your plan.
- During a trial, straight away. The trial is free time on the plan, not on brands added alongside it.
- Your plan shows the real total: the plan plus any extra brands, not the plan's own price.
Removing an extra brand
Remove a slot sits next to Add a slot once you have one. An extra brand is a month, not a number of days: remove it and it keeps working to the end of the period you've paid for, then stops and is never charged again. Nothing is refunded for the days left, and nothing extra is charged.
Change your mind before that date and Keep them puts it back at no cost. A slot that's running out can't be filled with a new brand, since that brand would stop the day the slot did. Adding a brand reinstates the slot instead, free, because it's already paid for.
An archived brand doesn't keep you paying. Its place is still held for thirty days, but you can hand back the paid slot the moment you stop tracking the brand.
Who can do what
Adding, archiving and restoring brands, and anything that involves payment, needs an owner or admin. Editors work on the brands that are there. See teams and roles.
